People all across the city were soaking up the sunshine Sunday, as Toronto broke a temperature record.
Sunday saw an unofficial high of 17.3 C, shattering the old high of 15.3 C, set back in 1977.
“Seasonal values for this time of year are about 3 C and low of -6 C. Today we broke the record (unofficially) hitting 17.3 C at 4 p.m. from 1977, which was 15.3 C,” said CityNews weather specialist Sangita Patel.
“Expect a mild March break potential of getting above 20C on Thursday!”
Environment Canada issued a special weather statement Sunday morning, stating that a ridge of high pressure over the southern U.S. will give Toronto temperatures 10 to 15 degrees above normal for the upcoming week.
Monday will see a high of 11 C with the chance for rain. Rain expected again for Tuesday, with a high of 15 C. Things clear up on Wednesday, with a possible high of 15 C.
Thursday looks to be the real winner of the week, with partly cloudy skies and a chance of hitting 20 C, or above. Friday will again see partly cloudy skies and a high of 15 C.
