OHL Playoffs: 67’s, Colts advance

BELLEVILLE, Ont. — Tyler Toffoli scored twice as the Ottawa 67’s advanced to the second round of the Ontario Hockey League playoffs with a 2-1 win over the Belleville Bulls on Monday.
The 67’s won the best-of-seven Eastern Conference quarter-final 4-2. They will play the Barrie Colts in the conference semifinals.
Garrett Hooey scored the lone goal for Belleville.
Ottawa goaltender Petr Mrazek made 31 saves.
Malcolm Subban stopped 35 shots for the Bulls.
A scoreless first period saw a lot of chances at both ends, with both goaltenders making big saves.
Hooey opened the scoring for Belleville in the second period with his first goal of the playoffs as he fired a wrist shot high from the high slot past Mrazek.
After Subban stopped a two-man breakaway, Ottawa kept the pressure going and Toffoli knotted the game up with his fifth goal of the series.
Toffoli’s game winner came just under six minutes in to the third period.
BARRIE 3, MISSISSAUGA 2
MISSISSAUGA, Ont. — Anthony Camara in overtime as the Barrie Colts advanced to the second round of the Ontario Hockey League playoffs by beating the Mississauga St. Michael’s Majors 3-2 Monday.
The Colts won the best-of-seven Eastern Conference quarter-final 4-2. They will play the 67’s in the conference semifinals, beginning Friday night in Ottawa.
Camara scored 19:32 into the extra frame, firing a 2-on-1 feed from Daniel Erlich past Majors goalie Brandon Maxwell, who made 38 saves in defeat.
Colts goaltender Mathias Niederberger finished with 44 saves, including 11 in overtime.
Aaron Ekblad and Colin Behenna also scored for the Colts, while Jamie Wise and Mika Partanen responded for the Majors.
Mississauga’s Riley Brace and Barrie’s Mark Scheifele each finished with two assists.
Barrie went 1-for-4 on the power play, while Mississauga finished 0-for-4.
