Katy Perry interview, Part 1: Doc was a ‘little seed of an idea’

Katy Perry’s new documentary Part of Me 3D opens next week, and to coincide with its release, Citytv’s Tracy Moore met and interviewed the pop superstar.

“I didn’t know it was going to turn into this big deal of a movie,” Perry said in the first of a five-part series, explaining why she decided to make the film and give her fans a virtual backstage pass to her tour.

“It was just this little seed of an idea that I had in the winter of 2010 right after I put out my Teenage Dream record.

She adds: “I really felt people responding to the record. The songs were really catching on and my tour was expanding. I had never played these huge, mammoth arenas before.

“At that time I thought, ‘You know what? It might be a good idea to document the whole process because who knows what’s gonna go on.’”
