Microsoft has confirmed that it will open its first Canadian store in Toronto later this fall.
The Yorkdale store will be 6,845 square feet, will feature wraparound video walls, a video games station, and a tech-support area. Approximately 50 jobs are expected to be created.
The news comes as a massive Microsoft conference has taken over downtown Toronto, with 15,000 delegates from around the world gathering at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre to discuss business at one of the world’s largest companies. The conference wraps up Thursday.
Microsoft announced earlier this week that its brand new operating system, Windows 8, would also be available this fall.
The Toronto location will be the 31st Microsoft retail store. The software company opened its first location in 2009 in Scottsdale, Az.
Microsoft won’t be the only big tech store in the mall. In 2005, the Apple store debuted in Canada also at Yorkdale.
