2-alarm Danforth fire prompts evacuation

Six people were forced from their homes after a two-alarm fire on the Danforth early Wednesday morning.

The fire began at the Red Chili Thai restaurant on Danforth Avenue near Greenwood Avenue just before 2 a.m.

Apartments above the restaurant were evacuated and TTC buses were brought in to shelter the residents.

Six of those residents will not be allowed to return home, police said.

The cost of the damage is over $100,000. The cause of the fire is not yet known.
