Man shot at Danforth and Greenwood

TORONTO, Ont. – A man is in serious but stable condition after being shot in the abdomen, Friday afternoon, while sitting inside a salon on the Danforth.

Police were called to the Pizzazz Unlimited hair salon on the Danforth, just east of Greenwood, just after 3 p.m.

The man, believed to be about 25 years old, was sitting in a barber’s chair having braids done, when another man walked in and opened fire, fleeing through the back door.

The shop’s assistant, washing his car behind the building, came running in when he heard the commotion.

He told 680News everyone was “scared, screaming, frantic, and I go and I look down, I see the guy’s on the floor, bleeding all over.”

“He was speaking, he was alive, he was talking, and he was kind of traumatized,” he said.

Witnesses told CityNews the victim was a regular customer at Pizzazz Unlimited

Police have yet to track down the suspect. Investigators have interviewed witnesses and are reviewing surveillance video.

The suspect is described as male, black, 20 to 25 years old, with a slim build. He was last seen wearing black pants, black shoes and a grey shirt.

Subway service on the Bloor-Danforth line was stopped at the time of the shooting, but has since resumed.

Investigators say the area was quite busy at the time, and are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crime or saw something suspicious to call police or Crime Stoppers.
