3 in custody after Sheppard assault

Toronto police have charged three people with aggravated assault after a man was attacked early Friday morning.
The victim, 31, was rushed to hospital after the incident on Sheppard Avenue East near Brimley Road around 4:15 a.m.
Police believe the victim and two others left a restaurant and were in the parking lot when they got into an argument with another group of three men.
The fight became physical and the violence escalated. The victim was taken to hospital with serious injuries to his chest but they’re not considered life-threatening.
Sanjith Stanisless, 23, of Toronto, Janaarthan Sritharan, 23, of Stouffville, and Vykunthan Kanthavel, 27, of Toronto, have each been charged with aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, weapons dangerous and mischief under. They made a court appearance on Friday.
Correction: It was earlier reported that the victim had been stabbed.
