Barenaked Ladies' Ed Robertson to join Rogers' Grammys coverage team

Music’s biggest night has just gotten bigger with Ed Robertson, the frontman of the Barenaked Ladies, joining Rogers’ A-list team to cover the 56th annual Grammy Awards.

“I have been to the show twice before, so I am hoping to bring some of that inside knowledge to the coverage,” Robertson told 680News music reporter Rudy Blair on Monday.

He said he plans on having fun with all of the nominees.

“Essentially, I am just going to say to every single artist that walks up, ‘Is your record better than mine?’ because you know, I have a record this year too,” Robertson joked.

He said what he doesn’t want to hear from nominees is that they don’t care about awards.

“You care. You can pretend you’re all hipster now, but you care. You are insulting every single kid that ever held a guitar in [his/her] bedroom and hoped to be there. So just admit you’re excited.”

The Grammy Awards will be held at the Staples Centre in Los Angeles on Jan. 26 and will air on City at 8 p.m. ET.

Robertson is part of Roger Media’s exclusive live coverage of the Grammys, which will be presented on the company’s television, radio and online properties, including three national specials.

“We’ve pulled out all the stops for this extraordinary night, showcasing the diversity of our talent and brands across Rogers Media to bring audiences an unforgettable experience,” said Scott Moore, president of broadcast at Rogers Media.

Rogers’ multi-platform coverage of the Grammys includes:
