Halton police are looking for one suspect after two women were assaulted on the Sheridan College campus in Oakville this week.
The most recent attack occurred Thursday, Feb. 6 at about 9 p.m.
A man approached a woman on a sidewalk north of the 1430 Trafalgar Rd. campus and grabbed her backpack. The victim screamed and hit the suspect with her backpack, causing him to flee southbound on Trafalgar.
On Tuesday, Feb. 4 at about 6 p.m. a woman was sexually assaulted on a wooded path on the south side of the college campus.
A man was taken in to custody after Tuesday’s assault, but after investigating police have since released him without charges.
Police believe the same suspect might be responsible for both recent cases, as well as a string of similar assaults last summer and fall.
Halton police are appealing to the public for help identifying the suspect.
He is described as male, five feet four inches to five feet eight inches, with a medium build. He was last seen wearing a dark-coloured jacket with a hood and a ski mask covering his face.
Police said they have received tips and encourage anyone who sees someone lurking, acting suspicious, or running and matching the description to contact the Halton Regional Police immediately or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
