Three people were killed and dozens injured Wednesday after an explosion in Manhattan’s east Harlem neighborhood.
Two of the three victims who were killed have been identified.
One victim is Sgt. Griselde Comacho who worked as a public safety officer at Hunter College.
The second victim has been identified as 67-year old Carmen Tanco.
At least nine people are unaccounted for and dozens injured.
New York City police and fire officials are on the scene of a five-alarm fire triggered by the blast at 1646 Park Ave. in the mostly residential neighbourhood.
The explosion leveled the building and the one beside it.
In a purely precautionary measure, the NYPD bomb squad was deployed.
Authorities say they think a gas leak is to blame, but they haven’t determined an official cause yet.
