The World’s Biggest Bookstore, located in downtown Toronto, will close its doors on March 23.
It’s just the latest in a string of independent book stores that have shuttered in the city, from Nicholas Hoare in the St. Lawrence Market Area to The Cookbook Store at Yonge and Bloor to Book City in the Annex.
The Cookbook Store cited coming condo development as the reason for its closure. It had been in the same location for 31 years.
The enormous World’s Biggest, meanwhile, will turn into four restaurants by 2015.
We asked our readers for their best memories of the store – and what it means for the future of reading. Check out their comments below and let us know what you think in the comments.
