eBay suffers cyberattack, asks users to change passwords

E-commerce site eBay is asking users to change their passwords after a cyberattack compromised one of the website’s databases.

The database contains login information and other data such as date of birth, phone numbers, email addresses and the customers’ physical addresses.

The California-based company said there is no evidence to suggest financial information was stolen.

“Cyberattackers compromised a small number of employee log-in credentials, allowing unauthorized access to eBay’s corporate network,” the company said in a statement.

It’s not yet known how many accounts were affected.

The database was hacked between late February and early March.

The company is working with law enforcement officials to investigate the attack.
