Toronto mayoral election advance polls open

The advance polls opened on Tuesday in the Toronto municipal election.
The polls are open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. until Oct. 19.
There will be one voting place in each of the 44 wards. Click here for a list.
Voters can also cast their ballots at Toronto City Hall until Oct. 17.
City officials said voting cards were mailed out last week. The cards provide information about when and where to vote during either the advance vote or on election day Oct. 27.
People are encouraged to bring their voting cards with them when casting a ballot. But it is possible to vote without a card.
Eligible voters can vote with a valid piece of identification and proof of address.

Toronto residents, or those who own or rent property, or have a spouse who owns or rents or property in Toronto are eligible to vote.

Voters who haven’t received their cards by the middle of the month can use the MyVote tool to find out when and where to vote.
There are more than 350 candidates vying for one of the 44 council seats in the Toronto election.
Thirty-eight councillors are seeking re-election, including Rob Ford. Six councillors, including Gloria Lindsay Luby, Karen Stintz and Mike Del Grande, are leaving office at the end of this term.
