Toronto police are asking for the public’s help in identifying two people sought in connection with the shooting death of 26-year-old man in North York on Thursday.

At a news conference on Saturday, Det-Sgt. Steve Ryan released security camera footage of the shooting, which happened just after 11 p.m. on Thursday at a plaza on Keele Street, south of Sheppard Avenue.

The video shows a man emerge from the passenger side of a dark blue or black Honda Civic, approach and open fire on the victim, identified as Jamal Roache. The suspect then runs back to the car, which drives away.

Roache, who police say was shot between six and eight times, was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries but pronounced dead shortly after.

The suspect is described as wearing a black and grey hoodie, dark shoes with white soles and a tuque.

Police are also looking to speak with the driver of the car, who they say may not have known the shooting was going to happen.

Anyone with information is asked to contact them through Crime Stoppers at 1-888-222-8477.

Roache is the city’s 48th homicide victim in 2014. View below an interactive map of 2014 Toronto homicides. Mobile viewers, click here.
