Man shot in the face in west end

A man in his 20s was shot several times in the torso and once in the face on Humber Boulevard near Weston Road on Monday afternoon in front of a public housing building.

He was rushed to hospital around 12:30 p.m. with life-threatening injuries, but is expected to survive, paramedics say.

Residents in the area say there was some sort of fight in front of the Toronto Community Housing building before shots rang out.

“To hear a gunshot just pop off, I don’t feel safe,” said Alicia who didn’t provide her surname.

Nearby Archbishop Romero Catholic Secondary School and Rockcliffe Middle School were placed in hold-and-secures. They have since been lifted.

“Everyone’s terrified. All the girls were screaming. (They were) terrified and didn’t want to go outside,” a student named Sebastian told CityNews.

Police say they are looking for two suspects — a shooter who took off in a silver car with another person.

No descriptions were immediately available.
