The union representing Catholic teachers in Ontario, the Ontario English Catholic Teachers’ Association (OECTA), has voted 94.2 per cent in favour of striking.
James Ryan, president of OECTA, said in a news release that the initial proposal includes provisions, many of which are non-monetary, that eradicate the most fundamental of teachers’ rights.
No strike date has been set.
Meanwhile, Durham public high school teachers remain on strike.
