Toronto police say they’ve arrested a man accused of unprovoked and random attacks in the College Park area that left two people with broken bones.
The alleged attacks – there were three of them – happened on Thursday.
A 50-year-old man was standing on the sidewalk near Yonge and College Street around 4:54 p.m. when he was attacked and knocked to the ground by an unknown man.
The suspect then continued into the mall, shoving a 70-year-old woman on his way down the stairs. Once he was at the bottom of the stairs he punched a 54-year-old woman in the face, knocking her to the ground, said police.
The 50-year-old man and 54-year-old woman were taken to hospital by ambulance. The man suffered a broken hip and broken wrist, and the woman suffered a broken wrist and bruise to her face.
Nigel White, 38, was arrested by police on Tuesday and is facing a charge of assault and two charges of aggravated assault.
The accused is scheduled to appear in a Toronto court on Wednesday morning.
