The Leafs might stink but Babsocks have the scent of success

By News Staff

Babsocks, cleverly named after Toronto Maple Leafs head coach Mike Babcock, were born after a Leafs game when people were making crude jokes using Babcock’s name.

Jake Mednick blurted out, “You know what I might actually sell, Babsocks.”

Originally, orders for the socks were much like Leafs goals — few and far between, but then word got out on social media using #Babsocks.

It’s only been a couple of months of production but Mednick and Thomas McCole have sold thousands of pairs.

Even Babcock himself ordered 30 pairs.

When they found out Babcock really wanted to order some they tried to offer them as a gift, but he refused and wanted to pay the full amount of $20.00 a pair.

Babcock then passed them onto his family.

Both Mednick and McCole joke that much of their time is now spent packaging socks to mail out.

But the men might get even busier with a new idea called ‘Shanahands’ named after Brendan Shanahan.
