1 dead in dump truck crash in Whitby

A 33-year-old woman is dead after her vehicle collided with a dump truck in Whitby.
The fatal crash happened on Lake Ridge Road between Taunton and Winchester roads around 8:30 a.m. on Friday.
“We arrived on scene and found a lot of debris,” Const. George Tudos told 680 NEWS.
“It appears that the dump truck was travelling southbound … and a four-door sedan was travelling northbound. For some reason, it ended up in the southbound lanes and it hit the dump truck head-on. One person in that car was pronounced dead at the scene.”
A third vehicle was also involved in the crash. No one in the dump truck or the third vehicle was hurt.
The road was closed for several hours while police investigated.
