Toronto man charged with assault for allegedly pulling hijabs off women

Toronto police say one man is facing multiple charges in three alleged hate-motivated assaults.

On Wednesday between 3 p.m. and 9 p.m., police received three calls about separate incidents at a bus stop on the corner of Jane Street and Wilson Avenue.

It’s alleged in all three incidents, the women were waiting for a bus when the man approached the women and pulled their hijabs off their heads.

Sayid Ahmed Abdullahi, 42, of Toronto has been charged with three counts of assault and mischief.

He appeared in court on Friday.
