Police investigate body found in Scarborough hydro field

Toronto police are investigating after a body was discovered in a hydro field in Scarborough.

Police say they were called to an area behind a building on Prudential Drive just off Midland Avenue near Lawrence Avenue East just after 5 p.m. Wednesday.

Police initially said they did not know the circumstances surrounding the death and as such, termed it a “suspicious incident.” Investigators on scene later said the incident was no longer considered suspicious and there is no threat to public safety.

An eyewitness tells CityNews the body appears to be of a male believed to be in his 30s.

Paramedics confirm to 680News that the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
