Man charged after shootings in Brampton that left 2 dead, 1 injured

Police say a man has been charged in two separate shootings that left two men dead and sent a woman to hospital in Brampton on Sunday.

In the first incident, officers were called to Vodden Street East near Kennedy Road at around 12:43 a.m. They found two people suffering from gunshot wounds.

Police say Clifford Correia, 27, of Brampton died in hospital and a woman in her 20s was treated for life-threatening injuries.

At around 6:30 a.m., police responded to a second shooting on Townley Crescent in Brampton. A man was pronounced dead at the scene.

He’s been identified as Derrick McKeown, 33, from the Georgetown, Ont., area.

Police believe the same suspect was responsible for both shootings.

On Monday, Peel Regional Police arrested Patrick Doyle, 27, of Brampton. He’s been charged with two counts of first-degree murder and one count of attempted murder.

Police did not say whether there was any known relationship between the accused and the alleged victims.
