Toronto police say a man is in custody after allegedly shooting himself in the foot and then crashing his car when he tried to flee the scene.

Investigators say they received a call from a bystander around 4 p.m. on Monday that a man’s gun went off inside a restaurant in Scarborough near Markham Road and Painted Post Drive.

Police say the man left the restaurant in his car, but allegedly crashed into another vehicle.

It’s alleged he then drove away from the scene of the collision.

Police say a suspect was located shortly after by officers and arrested.
