The province’s police watchdog is investigating after a fatal head-on crash involving a Purolator courier truck.
The OPP says around 9:15 a.m. Saturday, one of its officers noticed a car speeding on the eastbound Highway 407 and started following it. The driver then exited at Brock Road and headed south.
Soon after, the officer came across the car, which had crashed with a courier truck near Concession Road 5.
The driver of the car died at the scene.
Paramedics took the 36-year-old courier driver to Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, where he is in serious but stable condition.
Both the Special Investigations Unit and the Durham Regional Police Service are probing the collision.
