Teen dead, 2 other teens injured in Brimley and McNicoll crash

A 16-year-old boy is dead and two other teens are injured after a car went off the road and hit a pole in Scarborough.
Emergency crews were called to Brimley Road near McNicoll Avenue just before 1:30 a.m. Friday.
The teenage driver suffered critical injuries and died in hospital. He has been identified as Hanzala Tariq, according to Durham District School Board.
The school board released a statement confirming Tariq attended Anderson Collegiate Vocational Institute in Whitby.
Two passengers are also injured. Police initially said the front-seat passenger is a 16-year-old boy, but police later said he is 14. He remains in hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The other teen who was sitting in the back seat has minor injuries.
The area is closed to traffic.
