Brampton man, 81, charged with second-degree murder in wife’s death

Peel regional police have charged an 81-year-old man with second-degree murder after a woman was found deceased at a townhouse complex near Queen Street East and Bramalea Road in Brampton on Monday morning.

Police were called to the residence at around 9 a.m.

Upon arrival they found Bao Lian Li, 82, suffering from obvious signs of trauma. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police arrested Lu Hong Liang and charged him with second-degree murder. He made a brief court appearance on Monday.

Police confirm that the suspect and victim were married and were the only ones home at the time.

The death marks Peel region’s sixth homicide of 2019.
