Man arrested after body found in Bloor and Dovercourt home

The body of a man was found inside of a home on Shanly Street, in the area of Bloor Street West and Dovercourt Road. 680 NEWS reporter Carl Hanstke has the latest from the scene.

A 50-year-old Toronto man has been arrested after the body of a man was found inside a home in the Bloor Street West and Dovercourt Road area Tuesday night.

Emergency crews were called to the scene on Shanly Street around 7 p.m. for a report of someone in cardiac arrest.

The 43-year-old victim was found in an upstairs apartment inside the home. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Police have since identified him as Valland Spolarich, of Toronto.

Police said the man suffered blunt force trauma.

Police said the victim was visiting someone in the home at the time.

Herculano Pimentel is facing a charge of second-degree murder and is expected to appear in court on Wednesday.

This is the city’s 25th homicide of the year.
