Squirrel attacks woman at Mississauga wholesaler

A woman shopping at a Mississauga wholesaler yesterday seems to have gotten a little more than she bargained for.

While perusing the aisle of Closeout King near Dundas Street and Dixie Road for deals around 3 p.m., Sharon Kwok said she came across a squirrel having a bit of a mid-day snack.

“I was like, what is it doing?,” Kwok told 680 NEWS. “I couldn’t believe speaking to the sales person, she was, like nonchalant, ‘it’s all good’ as if it was a family member almost.”

Kwok, who was shopping with her son at the time, decided to pull out her cell phone and take a video of the squirrel as it popped open a plastic platter of cookies and started to have a snack.

“I’m in a state of ‘what the heck’, I couldn’t believe what i was seeing,” Kwok said.

That’s when the squirrel apparently decided it didn’t like being caught with its hand in the cookie jar – and launched at her face.

“It went boom, straight to my face,” Kwok says of the sudden attack, “Then I was like, ‘holy smokes’.”

Kwok, describing it as “America’s Funniest Home Videos-worthy,” said she’s since been told by friends she should put the video on YouTube.

She said she also finds it quite funny, but at the same time is a little concerned by how the store reacted, saying in the end, there was essentially a giant rat digging through cookies that were still for sale.

Kwok said the squirrel only left her with a few scratches around her face and neck, but she will still get them checked out by a doctor.
