Ajax man charged in plot to murder two Jamaican residents

By News Staff

An Ajax man has been arrested for his alleged role in a plot to murder two Jamaican residents.

Durham police say they received information from the RCMP back in late May about this alleged murder plot and began a coordinated investigation with the FBI, RCMP, and the Major Organized Crime and Anti-Corruption Unit in Jamaica.

The investigation confirmed a Canadian citizen had travelled to Jamaica in late May to help plan the alleged murder. However, the murders did not happen and the Jamaican couple were unharmed.

Early Tuesday morning, police arrested 56-year-old Fitz Hutchinson while driving in Pickering.

Hutchinson has been charged with conspiracy to murder and counselling offence that is not committed.

He has been held for a bail hearing.

Anyone with new information regarding this investigation is asked to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
