Man dies of injuries after being found in downtown park

Police say a 50-year-old man has died days after he was found injured in a downtown park.

On Sept. 25 at around 10 p.m., Toronto police say they were called to George Hislop Park where they found the man suffering from traumatic injuries.

They say paramedics took him to hospital, where his condition deteriorated and his injuries became life-threatening.

Robin Besito, who had no fixed address, died on Sept. 27.

The homicide unit has taken over the investigation.

Police say the incident that led to the homicide occurred on Sept. 24. They’re asking anyone who saw or heard something out of the ordinary in the area on that morning to get in touch.

Investigators are also appealing to anyone with dash cam video who may have been in the George Hislop Park area to come forward.

The boundaries of the area of interest are:
Charles Street to the north
Yonge Street to the west
Wellesley Street to the south
Church Street to the east

Side streets include:
Isabella Street
Gloucester Street
Dundonald Avenue
Wabenose Lane

This is the city’s 50th homicide of 2019.
