Toronto police are investigating following a deadly shooting in Toronto’s Corso Italia area Friday.

Police said they were called to the St. Clair Avenue and St. Clarens Avenue area at around 11:40 a.m. for a report that a person had been shot.

When officers arrived they found a man in his 30s with critical injuries.

The victim later succumbed to their injuries, police said.

Investigators said they believe the suspected shooter was lying in wait. After shooting the man, the suspect jumped into the passenger side of a vehicle and took off.  Police said they are seeking the driver of the vehicle and the passenger.

Photos and video from the scene showed a white, late-model GMC Acadia with a shattered driver-side window.  The vehicle also has state of California plates.
