Unsung Hero: Tony Lam

By Fil Martino

40 year old Tony Lam teaches grades 3 and 4 at Deer Park Junior and Senior Public School in Toronto. When COVID-19 forced the shutdown of schools and his students had to start learning from home, he wanted to make sure everyone was alright. He contacted all his students and their parents, and upon finding out one of his students did not have a computer he helped him to get one.

It’s no surprise to Deer Park principal Carmelo Nanfara, who says Lam is always doing what he can for students and their families.

Lam says getting students the tools they need to succeed is the right thing to do.

He adds someone once told him that teaching is a noble profession and he wants to keep that up.
