1 person dead after crash on Hwy. 401 in Pickering

A 28-year-old Oshawa woman is dead after a dramatic crash on the westbound Highway 401 in Pickering Friday morning.
Police said it happened around 11 a.m. in the collector lanes approaching Whites Road.
OPP Acting Sgt. Dan Hunter said an SUV stalled in a live lane of traffic when it was struck by a black sedan. The SUV was pushed forward about 50 metres and then caught on fire.
A third vehicle was also involved, but police didn’t say to what extent.
The female driver of the SUV was killed. Her name has not been released.
Another person was sent to the hospital. Two other people were assessed by paramedics at the scene, police said.
The crash remains under investigation.
