Casino Rama to reopen soon, says Rama First Nation

One popular casino chain is making a comeback as Casino Rama announced that it’s close to reopening its doors, according to Rama First Nation.
“Gateway Casinos & Entertainment would like to sincerely thank Rama First Nation for the on-going dialogue between Gateway Casinos, Chief Ted Williams, members of Council and the Rama First Nation COVID-19 Task Force,” they said in a statement.
“…However, there are still a number steps Gateway must go through before we can determine a date for re-opening. When those details are established, including a confirmed opening date, a formal re-opening announcement will be issued by Gateway.”
The casino has been closed since March and could have reopened anytime since early Sept. but ultimately decided against it.
“In keeping with Ontario COVID-19 guidelines, there is a limit of 50 people per facility,” Chief and council Ted Williams said.
“Today, Gateway has experienced no cases in their casino operations. This week, we toured Casino Rama with the COVID-19 taskforce to talk about what we needed to see in our community,” he added.

Rama Chief Council and Gateway Casinos says they have not decided to open the Orillia facility. Like all other casinos in the province, Rama will only be able to allow 50 people at a time. Everyone must wear a mask and make an appointment ahead of time.
Table games will be closed, only slots will be open and there will be no food and drink served.
Rama Chief Council says it decided reopening is best for Rama employees and the community.
Per Toronto’s COVID-19 restrictions, casinos, bingo halls and other gaming establishments will remain closed until at least Dec. 12.
Currently, in York and Halton, casinos can stay open but under strict restrictions, such as limits of 10 people per facility indoors and 25 people outdoors.
