2 people killed in Ajax collision

Two people are dead following a collision in Ajax Wednesday evening.

Durham police just after 6 p.m. a white 2020 Toyota RAV4 was travelling southbound on Salem Road near Kerrison Drive when it crossed the centre line into the northbound lanes, colliding head-on with a blue 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe.

A 49-year-old woman from Ajax in the Toyota was pronounced dead at the scene while an 18-year-old female passenger was taken to a trauma centre in Toronto with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

A 42-year-old Whitby male in the Hyundai also suffered fatal injuries in the crash while a 43-year-old female passenger was taken to a trauma centre in Toronto with serious injuries.
