4 Toronto COVID-19 vaccine clinics to allow walk-in appointments

Four of Toronto’s COVID-19 clinics will now be allowing walk-in appointments as of 12 p.m. Saturday.

A day after the Toronto Congress Centre began allowing walk-ins, the city has announced the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, The Hangar and Cloverdale Mall will also allow them.

A health card is not required for walk-ins, but some form of identification is needed.

The walk-ins will be available for anyone aged 18 and older between 12 p.m. and 7 p.m. All city-run clinics are administering Moderna to those 18+ and Pfizer to those between the ages of 12 and 17.

A release said the first day of walk-ins at the Congress Centre saw 318 people take advantage of the new system. Approximately 2,000 appointments were available.

“Opening up walk-in vaccinations at more of our City-run clinics will reduce barriers and increase accessibility for people across our city. There’s no time like the present to get vaccinated and help to keep our city safe,” said Toronto Board of Health Chair Joe Cressy in a release.

Over 50 per cent of adult residents in Toronto are fully vaccinated while 77 per cent have received their first dose.

The city has administered 3,795,029 in their vaccination campaign so far.
