Two men face several charges related to an alleged violent carjacking in Brampton that involved good samaritans helping rescue a young child in danger.

Peel Regional Police say the alleged incident happened on Friday around 5 p.m. when the victim was at a fast-food restaurant in the area of Brayden Boulevard and Airport Road.

Two men approached the woman in the parking lot, and a struggle ensued, according to police. It’s then that good samaritans and onlookers intervened and helped safely remove the woman’s young child from her car. The two suspects then fled the scene in her vehicle.

The woman was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The child was not harmed.

The two suspects were eventually located by police with the stolen vehicle near Derry Road East and Rexwood Road in Mississauga.

Peel Police arrested and identified 18-year-old Hamza Sajid of Brampton, who faces multiple charges including robbery and assault. Mehkash Sohal, 19, also of Brampton, was arrested and faced similar charges.

Both men appeared in court on Saturday.
