Police identify man, 23, shot and killed near McCowan and Sheppard

Toronto police have identified the 23-year-old man shot and killed at an industrial strip mall in Scarborough early Monday morning.
Police and paramedics were called to a nightclub on Nugget Avenue, near McCowan Road and Sheppard Avenue East, just before 4 a.m.
The man was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries where he later died. Police have since identified him as Mohamed Asser.
Asser is Toronto’s 81st homicide victim of the year.
Investigators said there were several people at the nightclub at the time and would like to speak to anyone who has information or video of what led up to the shooting.
There is no word on suspects or arrests.
Initial reports from the scene indicated the shooting happened inside Krave Banquet and Event Center.

Clarification: Paramedics initially said the victim was in his 20s and later said he was in his 40s. In an update on Tuesday, police said the victim is 23 years old.
