Two students have been taken to hospital after a stabbing at a Mississauga high school Tuesday.

Peel police were called to St. Marcellinus Secondary School at Mavis Road and Courtneypark Drive just before 12:30 p.m. for reports of a stabbing.

Officers located one student who had been stabbed on school property with some sort of knife or edged weapon. They were transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

A second student then approached first responders and is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries in hospital as well.

Const. Akhil Mooken says they are investigating a disturbance that took place on the school’s field in which they believe led to the stabbing.

The suspect, a 15-year-old male identified by video taken by witnesses and information gathered at the scene, was located and taken into custody.

He has since been charged and released on conditions. He is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.

St. Marcellinus was placed in lockdown while nearby school Mississauga Secondary School was placed in a hold and secure, but both have been lifted.
