Pack your patience if you live in Toronto or are heading into the city this weekend.
A portion of the Gardiner Expressway and the Don Valley Parkway is scheduled to be closed on Sunday for a charity bike ride.
There will also be no GO train service between Downsview and Union on the Barrie Line, and three-hour service on the Barrie Line this weekend.
“Whether you’re driving or planning on taking transit, our number one message to travellers this weekend: please give yourself plenty of extra time to safely get to your destination,” said Metrolinx spokesperson Anne Marie Aikins.
Starting on the rails, the transit agency says Lakeshore West GO trains will be operating on an hourly basis to accommodate some important construction happening at Exhibition GO Station.
And if that wasn’t all, TTC riders will have to navigate around a subway closure on a portion of Line 2 all weekend long.
Gardiner/DVP closure
The DVP from York Mills Road to the Gardiner and the Gardiner from South Kingsway to the DVP will be closed to drivers from 2 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday for Bike for Brain Health.
Other road closures
Dundas Street West, from Ossington to Lansdowne avenues, will be closed from 1 p.m. on Friday until 1 a.m. on Monday for the Do West Fest event.
The Meadoway, from Brimley Road to Scarborough Golf Club Road, will be off-limits from 7 a.m. on Saturday until 7 p.m. on Sunday due to ActiveTO.
TTC
Subways won’t be running on Line 2 between Jane and Ossington stations on Saturday and Sunday for track work. Shuttle buses will be running and all stations will remain open for people to connect to surface routes.
The TTC also says riders may experience longer than normal wait times on a section of Line 1 on Saturday and Sunday, as trains between Wilson and Lawrence West stations will alternate use of the northbound track due to maintenance work on the southbound track. Riders will need to board southbound trains on the northbound side of the platform at Yorkdale Station.
Update: The TTC’s website previously indicated that subway service would be shut down on Line 1 between Sheppard West and Lawrence West stations on Saturday and Sunday for track work. However, that has since been cancelled.
