Two men critically injured after overnight shootings in Durham

Durham police are investigating a pair of early morning shootings that sent two men to hospital with critical injuries.

Police were first called to a residence on Underwood Drive in North Whitby around 3:50 a.m. When they arrived, officers found a man suffering from gunshot wounds inside a home.

The man, confirmed by police as 26 years old, was rushed to a Toronto hospital with serious injuries. Police say several suspects fled the scene in a vehicle. No description of the suspects or the car has been made available.

Officers say it’s believed to be an isolated incident.

Minutes later, police say another man walked himself into a Durham Region hospital with serious gunshot wounds. He was transported to a Toronto area trauma centre for treatment.

There is no word on suspects, and investigators are still trying to determine where the shooting occurred.

Police are still determining if these two incidents are related.
