‘Caillou’ seeking a comeback with computer-generated animation reboot

By The Canadian Press

Caillou is making a comeback.

The Canadian children’s television series chronicling the everyday adventures of a bald four-year-old is being rebooted with a new, computer-generated look.

Halifax-based media company WildBrain says it has partnered with NBCUniversal’s streaming platform, Peacock, to create 52 new 11-minute episodes.

Five 44-minute “Caillou family specials” are also in production.

The original “Caillou” ended its 21-year run on U.S. TV last year, but has continued airing in Canada on Family Jr.

WildBrain did not immediately say when the show would launch, nor did it reveal broadcast plans in Canada.

This report by The Canadian Press was first published June 24, 2022.
