Motorcyclist dies after crash involving York Region Transit bus

A male motorcyclist has died following a collision involving a York Region “Viva” Transit bus.

Police were called around 9:30 a.m. to the Highway 7 and Woodstream Boulevard area in Vaughan for reports of a crash involving a motorcycle.

Authorities confirmed a male motorcyclist collided with the bus. The man, a 34-year-old from Barrie, was rushed to a hospital with life-threatening injuries, where he later died.

Staff Sgt. Mark Lau says the York Region Transit bus had passengers on board at the time of the incident and that no one was injured. The driver of the bus attended hospital with minor injuries.

“We’re appealing to anyone with dashcam footage or surveillance to come forward,” Lau said at the scene.

The Major Collision Investigation Unit has taken over the investigation.

Highway 7 is closed between Kipling Avenue to Martin Grove Road.
