A woman was seriously injured after she was assaulted and elbowed in the face by a man on a walking trail along Toronto’s waterfront.

Toronto police said the incident happened on Saturday, July 9, on the Martin Goodman Trail in the Lakeshore West and Ontario Place Boulevard area.

Investigators say a 21-year-old woman was walking westbound on the trail when a man riding a bicycle approached her.

He then used his left shoulder to strike the woman in the face, causing her to fall to the ground. He fled eastbound on the trail.

The woman suffered “very serious” but non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital.

The male suspect is described as a white man, approximately 5-foot-10 with a heavy build, 40-50 years old with grey unshaven stubble and a round face.

He was last seen wearing a fluorescent yellow shirt, and shorts and was riding a road bike with gears.

A suspect photo was not released.
