Two men face drugs, weapons charges after arrest at HER nightclub in Mississauga

Two men are facing drugs and weapons charges after they were arrested at a Mississauga nightclub that police have recently warned the public about attending.

Peel police were conducting “enhanced patrols” in the parking lot of HER Adult Entertainment Club on Eglinton Avenue West when they investigated a vehicle before 1 a.m. on Saturday.

As a result of the investigation, two men were taken into custody and police recovered a 40 caliber handgun while searching the vehicle.

El Salif, a 25-year-old from Brampton, and Kafi Ali, a 26-year-old from Toronto, are facing several charges, including possession of a loaded firearm and trafficking a controlled substance.

Both men appeared in court in Brampton.

Police warned public of attending nightclub following dozens of incidents

Earlier this week, police warned the public about the heightened risks of attending HER and the surrounding area following dozens of incidents, most involving firearms.

Police say they’ve been called to the venue more than two dozen times since the start of 2021.

In an update on Friday afternoon, police said they are willing to work with the nightclub to allow it to stay open but only under certain conditions, which investigators haven’t outlined at this point.

Police say they’ve seized six firearms and investigated four separate shootings in the area, the latest being on August 8 when a traffic stop in the area of the nightclub resulted in the arrest of three men and several loaded firearms were confiscated.

On July 24, three suspects were arrested following an early morning shooting outside the nightclub. One month earlier, shots rang out at the same location and police say they are looking to identify several suspects in connection with that incident.
