4 male suspects sought after armed carjackings carried out in North York

The woman was waiting for her husband to come out of the store when three males with guns approached the vehicle and forced her out. The men got into the SUV and fled the scene. No injuries have been reported.

Toronto police are searching for as many as four suspects who first robbed a woman at gunpoint in a North York parking lot on Sunday and are said to have carried out another carjacking a day later.

Police say just after 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, a 54-year-old woman was in her Cadillac Escalade SUV in the parking lot of a Metro supermarket at York Mills Road and Bayview Avenue.

The woman was waiting for her husband to come out of the store when three males with guns approached the car and forced her out. Another man, a driver, remained in a vehicle parked nearby.

The three men got into the SUV and fled the scene. Police said the fourth man drove away in the sedan, following the other men in the stolen car.

No injuries have been reported.

The woman’s stolen vehicle is a white 2017 Cadillac Escalade with licence plate CCTZ949.

There have been nearly 5,400 stolen vehicles in Toronto so far this year, according to numbers from Toronto Police Services. It marks a 50 per cent increase from all of 2021.

Investigators looking into armed carjacking near Downsview

Toronto police are also investigating another armed carjacking crime committed early Monday morning in the Wilson Avenue and Keele Street area.

Authorities say a 53-year-old man and 49-year-old woman stopped their vehicle at a parking lot nearby when two men approached as the victims got out of their car.

One armed man demanded the victim’s car keys and drove away. The other male suspect fled in a dark-coloured sedan.

No physical injuries were reported to the police.

Three of the four men are approximately 20 years old. Police said there is no description of the fourth male suspect.

The stolen vehicle in this incident is a white two-door 2019 Porsche Carrera 4S with the Ontario personalized licence plate “RAEANNE.”
