A man accused of allegedly killing a woman in a Scarborough house fire has been formally charged with first-degree murder.

The incident happened on June 17 in the Chester Le neighbourhood, near Victoria Park and Finch, just before 2 p.m.

Authorities located a man and a woman both suffering from severe burns. They were rushed to a local hospital, where the woman died from her injuries a day later.

The female victim was identified as 37-year-old Henrietta Viski of Toronto.

Police arrested 38-year-old Norbert Budai of Toronto and charged him with first-degree murder in August, but according to the Toronto Star, Budai had been in a medically induced coma due to his injuries and was not fit to be formally charged in the fire incident.

Viski was a mother to three children, according to Facebook posts from her friends and family.

A court date has not yet been set, police said.
