Police identify, issue arrest warrant for suspect wanted in fatal Hwy. 400 crash

Police have identified and issued a warrant for the arrest of a suspect who walked away from a fatal early morning crash in Vaughan last week.
The collision occurred in the southbound lanes of Highway 400 near Bass Pro Mills Drive around 3 a.m. on Sep. 30.
Police say a red Volkswagen Jetta was travelling at high speeds and rear-ended a minivan with four occupants inside, forcing the van to roll over.

A 73-year-old woman from North York was pronounced dead at the scene and three other occupants of the van were taken to hospital with minor injuries.
The driver of the Jetta was last seen walking away from the scene. He has been identified as 31-year-old Michael Okoaki from Richmond Hill.
Okoaki is facing multiple charges including dangerous driving causing death and failure to remain at a collision resulting in death.
Police have appealed for him to “call a lawyer” and turn himself in.
