The South Simcoe Police Service has announced the funeral for two officers fatally shot in Innisfil will be held on Thursday.
According to a statement posted late Saturday, the funeral service for Const. Morgan Russell and Const. Devon Northrup will take place at the Sadlon Arena on Bayview Drive in Barrie at 11 a.m. on Thursday.
The statement said members of the public wouldn’t be allowed into the arena for the funeral, but it’s expected there will be a media broadcast of the service.
There will be public processions to the arena from two funeral homes in Barrie, Adams Funeral Home and Cremation Services Ltd. on St. Vincent Street and Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home on Worsley Street.
Private visitations for both officers will occur on Wednesday.

On Friday, officers from multiple police services gathered as Russell and Northrup were brought to Barrie from the coroner’s office in Toronto.
The two officers were fatally shot while responding to a disturbance call at a home in Innisfil Tuesday evening.
Investigators with Ontario’s independent police watchdog, the Special Investigations Unit, confirmed the pair did not draw their firearms on the suspected gunman. They said a third officer in the house exchanged gunfire with the 22-year-old gunman who died at the scene.
SIU investigators are probing the circumstances leading up to the shooting. An autopsy for the deceased gunman was set to occur on Friday.
Northrup was a six-year member of the service and worked with the community mobilization and engagement unit. He also served as a member of the mental health crisis outreach team and the emergency response unit. Russell, a trained crisis negotiator in the uniform patrol division, was a 33-year veteran of the service.
