Wind warning issued for Toronto, much of southern Ontario

A wind warning has been issued for Toronto and much of southern Ontario, as wind gusts could reach 80 km/hr on Saturday.
Environment Canada says with the passage of a cold front through the province, strong winds are expected from early Saturday morning through the afternoon.
South or southwest winds with gusts up to 70 km/hr are expected ahead of the cold front, while west or northwest winds with gusts up to 80 km/hr will come with the cold front.
“Persons in or near this area should be on the lookout for adverse weather conditions and take necessary safety precautions,” Environment Canada noted.
It is expected to hit Toronto first before moving up toward Ottawa.
The weather agency says the wind is strong enough for power outages to occur as well as damage to buildings.
CityNews 680 meteorologist Jill Taylor said Saturday would start off warm with a high of 10 C and some light rain before dropping to 1 C by the afternoon with some sunshine.
The wind is expected to die down by Sunday with a high of 1 C and a mix of sun and cloud.
